Gurpatwant Singh Pannun News
Khalistani terrorist Gurpatwant Singh Pannun issued a new threat to Air India on Monday, warning passengers not to fly with the airline between November 1 and 19, as reported by India Today. Pannun, a 56-year-old who holds both U.S. and Canadian citizenship, claims that his warning is tied to the "40th anniversary of the Sikh genocide" in India. He leads Sikhs for Justice (SFJ), a group advocating for the creation of an independent Sikh state called Khalistan. The threat also suggests a potential attack on Air India flights, similar to a warning he issued last year. Who is Gurpatwant Singh Pannun? Pannun is a key figure in the Khalistan separatist movement. He is a U.S.-based lawyer and the founder of SFJ, which seeks to achieve a separate state of Khalistan through legal and political actions. Under his leadership, SFJ has organized referendums and campaigns to draw international attention to their cause. Pannun has also led "Referendum 2020" to gather support for Khalistan. In July 2020, India designated Pannun as a terrorist under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA) for promoting separatism and inciting violence. His properties in India have been seized, and the government has issued several warrants for his arrest. Although labeled a terrorist in India, Pannun continues to push the Khalistan agenda internationally, especially in Canada, the UK, and the U.S., where he lobbies for support. His actions have caused diplomatic tensions between India and these countries, particularly Canada. His threat comes at a time when several hoax bomb threats have disrupted flight operations in India, adding to the anxiety around air travel.
